At JIU, we keep our eye on the employment markets our students will face 5-10 years down the road. We design our programs to ensure students have the academic knowledge, plus the personal and professional capabilities they'll need to succeed. The Jones "Gold Standard" for courseware design, faculty qualifications and the personalized assistance provided is the primary reason for why 98% of our students recommend JIU.
JIU's fully accredited courses and degrees are designed to be work-relevant and student-focused. We've put a lot of thought into how busy professionals with competing priorities (work, spouse, children and extended family and home chores) can succeed in an online learning environment and advance their capabilities in the business and education fields.
The Jones Gold Standard by which we design our programs means that each course is designed from the bottom-up focusing on what students need to learn and how they need to learn it. Courses include work-related project-based units and peer Forums so students can apply their studies to their current job and experience strategic and ethical discussions with one another, and perhaps, with their employers. None of our courses are conversions from a standard and traditional classroom course; they are specifically constructed for online learning success.
The Jones Gold Standard also represents what we look for in a JIU professor. Many university faculties see research and writing as more important to their career advancement than teaching. It's quite different at JIU. Although our professors hail from prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Johns Hopkins, MIT and Oxford, all our professors actually work in the field that they teach. So JIU students in our School of Education learn directly from experienced teachers and administrators, while in our School of Business, tomorrow's knowledge workers learn from seasoned worldwide business professionals. This teaching standard not only enriches the interaction between student and professor, but it broadens a student's perspective for the global economy, as many of JIU's faculty live and work outside of the U.S.
Our faculty hail from some of the most distinguished institutions in the world and have developed courses that embrace the entrepreneurial spirit, cross-cultural perspective, and technological advances that will give you the edge in the global marketplace. Our interactive, personalized, and flexible online format is designed for the busy professional who seeks a quality, yet convenient, education.
JIU offers certificates, associate, bachelor, master and doctorate degrees in its Schools of Education and Business. We offer over 30 certificate and degree unique and specialized programs on which students can focus. To find the program that's right for you, our students work directly with their own Admissions Counselor. Counselors are available seven days a week and can help you explore the best academic fit and the many options for comfortably financing your next educational step.
Upon admission, an entering student will partner with his or her own academic "personal trainer." A student's personal Academic Service Counselor (ASC) will help a student create a unique and flexible learning path taking into account a student's competing priorities. The ASC introduces the online conveniences that JIU provides: such as the online e-global library® for student reference and the online bookstore where course-accompanying texts and materials can be purchased. The ASC will stay in partnership with that student until the academic degree is earned and join in celebration at a student's cyber-based graduation.
Both the Admissions Counselor and the Academic Service Counselor strive to provide all JIU students with the Gold Standard service every day.
